Yorgos Avgeropoulos was born in Athens in 1971. Covering news stories of great interest and importance, he has worked as a journalist for most of the major Greek TV channels. Working as a war correspondent for many years he has traveled extensively in Bosnia, Croatia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Kosovo and Palestine. He has also reported live from hot spots covering events that shook the world, such as the revolution in Albania, the earthquakes in Turkey and Iran and the shipwreck of the ship Estonia. Since 2000 he has been the creative force and the director of Exandas, a documentary series that is broadcasted on National Greek Television (NET). Holding the Exandas' camera Avgeropoulos has traveled in the hot spots of the world, and produced documentaries on Turkey, Yugoslavia, Southern Italy, Russia, Skopje, Genoa, Argentina, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Tokyo, Northern Ireland, Albania, Palestine, Rumania, Iraq, the US, Spain, Colombia, Iran, South Africa, Sweden, Haiti, Liberia, Brazil, Cuba, Bolivia, Libya. For many years Exandas has been participating in international festivals and has been awarded six times with the best investigative and documentary Greek TV programs' award as well as with Faro D'Oro (The Golden Lighthouse) Prize at the XII International Prize for Mediterranean Documentary and Reportage, Cagliari - Sardine, Italy, 2007. Exandas at the Thessaloniki Documentary Festival 2006 was the object of retrospective where participated with 10 documentaries.
